About our Board

Spoon River Electric is governed by a nine-member board of directors. Headquartered in Canton, Illinois the cooperative provides reliable, safe, and affordable service to about 5,000 meters in parts of Fulton, Knox, McDonough, Peoria and Schuyler counties.

The Board of Directors is responsible for the safe and sound operation of Spoon River Electric and ensures the cooperative fulfills its mission. The Board also is to provide oversight of the CEO/President who manages the staff and operations of the Cooperative.

Each director is a member of the Cooperative and is elected by the membership. Directors are elected/re-elected by majority vote of membership for 3-year terms at the Annual Meeting of Members held in June. 

Nominations for District Candidate may be made by petition submitted not less than 75 days prior to the Annual Meeting. 

Directors meet for regular monthly meetings as well as specialty and committee meetings when needed. Directors are accessible to members within their district and represent all members of Spoon River Electric.
